Business Green Energy Ltd (“Business Green Energy”, “we”, “us”) is an independent third-party intermediary (TPI) operating in the UK business energy market. We are a data controller for the personal data you provide to us via our website.
Information we collect
We collect information you submit through our quote form and any information you provide when you contact us. This includes: company name, contact name, job title, business email, business phone, site postcode, supply type (electricity, gas or water), annual usage or spend, contract end date, MPAN/MPRN meter references, current supplier, and any bill or site list you upload.
We also collect limited technical data automatically, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookies policy).
How we use your information
- To prepare and return an energy comparison and quote
- To tender your requirements across our supplier panel to obtain live pricing
- To contact you about your quote, the switch process and future renewal windows
- To administer any contract you place through us
- To respond to your queries and provide customer support
- To maintain records for billing validation and recovery activity
- To meet legal, regulatory and accounting obligations
Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (when you submit the form), our legitimate interests in running our business and serving you, and the performance of a contract you enter into with a supplier. Where you provide any sensitive information, we will only process it with your explicit consent.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We share the relevant details you provide with suppliers on our panel strictly as needed to obtain pricing for your tender and to progress a switch you have requested. We may also share data with our service providers (for example IT hosting, email and analytics) who process data on our behalf under contract. We only disclose data where required by law or regulation.
Retention
We keep your information for as long as necessary to provide our services and for the duration of any commercial relationship. Quote enquiry data is retained for up to 24 months so we can contact you about future renewal windows. Contract and billing-validation records are retained for the duration of the contract plus seven years to meet tax and accounting requirements. You can ask us to delete your data earlier where we have no legal obligation to keep it.
Your rights
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data where we have no legal basis to keep it
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, reusable format
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where processing relied on your consent
To exercise any of these rights, email info@businessgreenenergy.com. We respond within one month. If you have a concern about how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls, encryption in transit and secure storage. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information to a high standard.
International transfers
Your data is stored and processed primarily in the UK and EEA. Where any data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, we do so only with appropriate safeguards, such as a UK International Data Transfer Agreement or a recognised adequacy decision.
